You created your first Memory
The Journey to the Season
Your trunks are packed. Your farewells have been made, though perhaps not as thoroughly as they ought to have been.
Ahead lies the Season: new acquaintances, old expectations, invitations, dances, rumours, and all the other pleasant hazards of Society.
But first, you must get there.
Create your gentleperson first, then return here directly from their completed character record.

The Last Look Back
“Departures are curious things, my dear. One spends all morning wishing everyone would stop fussing, only to discover at the gate that one rather hoped somebody might fuss a little more. Look back if you must. It is useful to know what one is leaving before Society begins telling you what you ought to miss.”Lady Crackenthorpe
The carriage waits before the house, packed for the journey. Final instructions have been given, embraces endured, and at least one item of luggage has been declared indispensable by somebody who will not have to carry it.
You take your place. The door closes. Before the carriage moves beyond sight of home, you look back once more.
Create a Memory called The Last Look Back. The next three Experiences you write will belong to it.
Experience One
Leaving
“A grand farewell is very affecting, but it is rarely the grand part one remembers. A glove left upon a table, a face at an upstairs window, a gate closing rather too quickly, those are the things with the bad manners to remain.”Lady Crackenthorpe
The carriage begins to move. Home recedes by degrees: first the doorway, then the drive, then whatever familiar landmark has always announced that you were nearly there. Soon it will announce that you have gone.
Write the first Experience in The Last Look Back.
Write: What is the last thing you notice as you leave home, and why does it stay with you?
Experience Two
The Road Between
“A journey is merely Society confined to a smaller space and deprived of somewhere else to go. Tempers shorten. Horses object. Strangers become acquainted without the benefit of an introduction. Do try to behave accordingly, or, failing that, memorably.”Lady Crackenthorpe
By afternoon, home has disappeared behind you. The road ahead should be a simple matter of distance. Naturally, it is not.
This situation offers one of your Skills a natural opening. You may check that Skill to meet the difficulty, check another appropriate Skill if you can make it fit the fiction, or choose not to check a Skill and allow the difficulty to stand.
Write: What interrupts your journey, and what do you do about it?
Experience Three
Someone on the Road
“One inconvenience has the most vulgar habit of introducing another. More dangerously, it may introduce a person. You have already shown those present something of yourself. The difficulty now is that someone may have been paying attention.”Lady Crackenthorpe
The difficulty has not quite released you. Before the matter can be left behind, somebody else becomes involved, or something you brought with you suddenly matters more than it did an hour ago.
You may bring one of your Characters or Resources into the scene and let it shape what follows. If another connection makes better sense, leave the choice open and write it yourself.
Write: Who do you meet, and what happens between you that you will remember after the journey is over?

The Last Look Back
Memory Complete, 3 Experiences
“There. A Memory. Three little moments gathered together until they became something worth remembering. It is distressingly similar to how reputations are made.”Lady Crackenthorpe
Quiet Moment
The Lights Ahead
“There is a merciful little interval before an arrival, when one has not yet been seen and therefore cannot yet have disappointed anybody. I recommend making use of it. Such luxuries become scarce once the invitations begin.”Lady Crackenthorpe
Evening settles over the road. The day's inconvenience is behind you, and lights have begun to appear beyond the carriage window. Tomorrow will bring introductions, invitations and expectations. Tonight, for a little while longer, nobody requires anything of you.
Take a Quiet Moment. Write a brief private reflection, then refresh the Skill you checked earlier. In the full game, a Quiet Moment may instead change a Character’s relationship status when the fiction supports it.
Write: With nobody watching, what do you allow yourself to think about the Season ahead?
Tomorrow
The Season
At last, the carriage stops.
Your luggage disappears upstairs. Clothes are laid out for the morning. Invitations wait to be answered.
Somewhere beyond the windows, Society continues quite happily without you.
For one more night.
You rest.
Tomorrow, your Season begins.
Your Journey to the Season was a practice game. Your original Skills, Resources, Characters and Marks are restored before the Season begins. The story you wrote is yours to keep.
Your invitation is only beginning
Regency: The Season is coming soon
We hope you enjoyed your first Journey into Regency. The full game will take your character through an entire Season of invitations, relationships, rumours, scandal, choices and memories, with Society watching all the while.
When the doors open, the complete game will be available through our membership area or through DriveThruRPG.
The Mogshade Games membership area will be opening soon too. If you would like to wander a little further into the woods with us, our Patreon membership will be a way to support Mogshade Games, follow what we are making, and join us as new games, stories and glimmers find their way out from beneath the trees.
For now, keep your Memory. Your Season has not begun quite yet.
